Can I configure Mac's Mail application so that I can use my Yahoo email address as the return address?

I have an SBC.net address for sending the email, but I want the recipient to REply to me via my Yahoo address. I have Mac OS 10.4 Thanks!

Can I configure Mac's Mail application so that I can use my Yahoo email address as the return address?
To change the Reply-To address of an email you are composing in Mac OS X Mail:

* Select View | Reply-To Address Field from the menu (unless the Reply To: field is already visible).

* Type the email address to which you want replies to go by default in the Reply To: field.

* Continue editing your message.

To make Mac OS X Mail ALWAYS (a permanent change so consider it carefully) add a custom "Reply-To" header line to all emails you send:

* Open Terminal.

* Type "defaults read com.apple.mail UserHeaders".

* Press Enter.

* If that command returns "The domain/default pair of (com.apple.mail, UserHeaders) does not exist":

* Type "defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To" = "reply-to@address"; }'" (excluding the outermost quotation marks) and replace reply-to@address with the address you want to be used for replies.

* If the "defaults read" command above returns a line of values that starts with "{" and ends in "}":

* Highlight the entire line. It might read something like {Bcc = "bcc@address"; }, for example.

* Press Command-C.

* Type "defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '" (excluding the outer quotation marks).

* Press Command-V.

* Type "'".

* Insert '"Reply-To" = "reply-to@address"; ' in front of the closing "}" character, replacing reply-to@address with the email address you want to be used for replies.

The line might now read defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{Bcc = "bcc@address"; "Reply-To" = "reply-to@address"; }', for example.

* Press Enter.

Caution

Unfortunately, this method of adding a Reply-To header IS A PERMANENT CHANGE. Once in place, there is no way to make Mail not append it to a particular mail. You cannot change the address while composing a message either.

To make any changes to the Reply-To header, you have to go the route of the terminal.

Your best option for an "always do it this way" method is to use another email client application such as Thunderbird.
Reply:If you use Gmail........POP is free!!!!!!!
Reply:You can't do it via Mail's preferences. There isn't AFAIAA 'Yahoo email client' - just the web page.

Most people use the free Yahoo email and access it through the web browser (such as Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer). There is no way (or rather no even remotely easy way) to configure the system so that it will use that method - going to a browser web page and starting a new mail message - for default mail activities.

If, however, you have a PAID Yahoo account - or you have an older, non-US Yahoo account - you can set up your email program (such as Apple's built-in Mail.app, or Eudora, or Outlook Express) to use that Yahoo account as a POP email account, and then never have to go the web page, through the browser, at all.

So it depends entirely on WHAT KIND of Yahoo account you have.

If you have a PAID or non-US account, it should be very simple to set it up in Mail.app with that set as your default email program. Otherwise, no way - you will have to go to the browser and manually start a new message

Best of luck
