I have two laptops, is there a way not to let any other computer access my yahoo email? in case of theft?

afraid that my password is stolen, I just have two laptops, I never use any other computer for browsing the web and accessing my yahoo email. is there a way to just access my yahoo id through these two laptops, even though i have my password and id, yet i don't want to be allowed to get into my email on other computers at all, unless using these two laptops? so that nobody can get into my account.

There is no way to block other computers from logging into your account. The best thing you could do is to change your password if you think someone has stolen your password. Choose something that would be hard for other people to guess and change your password frequently for the best protection.

Mine does that sometimes do - all my email accounts do. I think it's just a glitch. Try clearing out your cookies or logging out and back in. Sometimes I just have to wait it out though.... good luck!

Reply:You can sue anybody for anything. You have to be able to show damages and that the person you are suing caused them. Then you have to decide the $$ amount and go to either small claims or file with the Superior Court. If you go to your County Court page you should be able to find a link for a self help filing if you want to do it yourself. CA's is listed below. This can only be used for Small Claims...if you are going for Superior Court they should have instructions listed for how to file the claim yourself. If it's an open and shut case you should be able to find an attorney who will do it on contingency. If it's not a good case, or relatively hard to prove you may find someone who'll take it if you pay them. If you do it yourself you've got a lot of work ahead of you but it's not all that difficult...just a matter of if you want to put the time in. Or you could try looking for attorneys who are into Internet Law. Good luck!!

Click OPTIONS in the upper left corner, select MAIL OPTIONS, read the notice, and click OK.

Click SPAM PROTECTION.

Under SPAM FILTER, Make sure "Save these messages in the Bulk Folder for (I keep them for 1 week)" is marked.

Go back to MAIL OPTIONS, and click BLOCK ADDRESSES.

Check to make sure no one you know, or their entire domain inadvertently ended up in the Blocked Addresses list. I would suggest that you just delete every address or domain that's in it. Spammers never send anything from the same address more than a couple of times in a row, anyway.

Those are the only settings that you have control over that would prevent you from getting any mail at all. If this doesn't solve your problem, you probably should contact mail support. It could be a misdirection in the server.

Reply:simply mark the unwanted mails as spam in the mails that you open...you generally see the spam button in each mail you open.once you mark some sender as spam it automatically gets blocked and the future mails sent by that person are automatically moved to Junk Folder or Spam folder which get emptied automatically once in a week.

Different things seem to work for different people. With the original yahoo version, I cannot find the contents of inward email, nor can I reply, compose or move an email to another file from the inbox. After switching to the new veta yahoo version, I managed to read the contents when outside messages kept popping up to cover the contents of the messages as I read it ! Same as happened in the original version, I failed to compose, reply and move an email, other than deleting them. I tried to follow Yahoo advice to remove the problem by clicking the Option at the top right hand corner (which is only available in the old Yahoo version), click the General Preference in Management Column, choose the Plain Text and scroll to the bottom to click "Save". Funny enough at this last stage, I failed after a series of clicks to "save" at the last step and all efforts were abortive. I further tried to "contact" Yahoo Customer Service as advised, yet this is not provided in the screen.

From the list that appears, select the encoding that matches the message鈥檚 content.

Or in the old Traditional = Select any email where the header information is displayed, but there

is nothing in the

"body" of the message where you would expect to find text, etc.

Move your mouse to the area of the expected "body" of the message and right-click...on

the menu that appears, click on "Encoding"...on the menu that appears, if "Auto Select"

has a check mark, leave it as is...if not click "Auto Select"; then this menu will

disappear...right click again in the "body" to cause the same menu to display again...then

click on "Western European (Windows)"...you should now be able to view the "body" of

all messages that you couldn't view before...obviously, if the problem somehow occurs

again, do the same procedure described above again. I have no idea how or why these

settings get "changed" or "corrupted" after everyday use, but apparently they sometimes

do.

You can store them in the Sent bin, then when you want to send them out, open it and use Forward. When some have saved to the Draft, they found they mail has disappeared or is only half there.

* Select View | Reply-To Address Field from the menu (unless the Reply To: field is already visible).

To make Mac OS X Mail ALWAYS (a permanent change so consider it carefully) add a custom "Reply-To" header line to all emails you send:

* Open Terminal.

* Type "defaults read com.apple.mail UserHeaders".

* Press Enter.

* If that command returns "The domain/default pair of (com.apple.mail, UserHeaders) does not exist":

* Type "defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To" = "reply-to@address"; }'" (excluding the outermost quotation marks) and replace reply-to@address with the address you want to be used for replies.

Caution

Your best option for an "always do it this way" method is to use another email client application such as Thunderbird.

So it depends entirely on WHAT KIND of Yahoo account you have.

If you have a PAID or non-US account, it should be very simple to set it up in Mail.app with that set as your default email program. Otherwise, no way - you will have to go to the browser and manually start a new message

With your present account, Yahoo will let you create one extra email address. Use it exactly like your primary address, and get messages sent to both addresses delivered to your primary address Inbox.

To do this, click OPTIONS (on the upper right side of your inbox). Then under "Management", click on MAIL ADDRESSES. Then just follow the directions.

Remember though, you can only make one extra mail address per account.

You have two choices for deactivating/deleting a Yahoo Email Address:

First Accounts are deactivated and removed after four months of no use.

When an account is deactivated, you won't be able to access it, regardless of whether or not email has been received in the account during that time.

Good Lord! Between you and the person who answered "send it to Yahoo and gave you an 800 number." Holy Batmobile! Do you think you are the only person to receive spam? This is a world-wide problem and you are complaining about your own little niche in it. Just spam this junk and stop blaming Yahoo. They give you free email. If you don't want to receive any of this, close your email box.

Ok, I'm trying to find someone on yahoo, and I don't know where to begin to find this person's email address. I don't know what he goes by on Yahoo. Well you can always go to the yahoo search engine (or any search engine) and put the name in quotes, "John Smith" which will search for the exact phrase... It's a web search, which I know you said you didn't want to do - but it's more specific than a general web search...

There's a lot of search engines that let you look for an email address using the name - but most of them loop back to paid services to get the results which might or might not be good...

If you really want to find out about a person - which I know you just want their email address - the best I have ever found is net detective... It's around $20 or $30 I think but it gives you ALL the information about a person... It searches all kinds of public records... But that's more an investigative service... Just thought I would mention it though for information purposes... Sorry I can't be more helpful...

You don't get anything- if that person has marked your e-mails as "spam" your mail just goes to their bulk folder and they never see it. My ex put me on his spam list on his Blackberry (for his work e-mail) before we broke up and I didn't know it. I would e-mail him and couldn't figure out why he never responded. Duh!! He finally told me.

Reply:You need to have an upgraded account with Yahoo that supports POP. The basic free eMail account does not support POP and therefore you can not use an eMail client like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Reply:Your email address is the account (billing) identifier. You can create a sub account and use that exclusively if you wish. Go to 'my account' (next to sign out) and you will see the create sub account area.

Yes, you can add a signature, if that's what you meant.

Click the "Options" link in the upper right of your yahoo mail page.

Scroll down the middle column to "Signature" and click on it. A box will open for you to add your signature. If you want this signature to be at the end of all of your emails, check the box for that. When finished, click the "Save" button.
