Is accessing someone's Yahoo email without consent illegal and an invasion of privacy?

I am a business owner who discovered that some employees had accessed my private and personal Yahoo email account and shared information with others. Much of my personal and private information was contained in these emails including details of my financial, medical, and family matters. Some of my business related information was used by an employee to steal business from me. I have documentation to prove that this was done. Can I sue the people involved for invasion of privacy? Is the privacy of someone's Yahoo email account protected under any law?

your privacy is absolutely protected... you should go ahead and sue for punitive damages.... click on the link below for more information...
Reply:I wonder how your employees even go a hold of your password?
Reply:You can sue anybody for anything. You have to be able to show damages and that the person you are suing caused them. Then you have to decide the $$ amount and go to either small claims or file with the Superior Court. If you go to your County Court page you should be able to find a link for a self help filing if you want to do it yourself. CA's is listed below. This can only be used for Small Claims...if you are going for Superior Court they should have instructions listed for how to file the claim yourself. If it's an open and shut case you should be able to find an attorney who will do it on contingency. If it's not a good case, or relatively hard to prove you may find someone who'll take it if you pay them. If you do it yourself you've got a lot of work ahead of you but it's not all that difficult...just a matter of if you want to put the time in. Or you could try looking for attorneys who are into Internet Law. Good luck!!
Reply:I am not sure if alone you can sue them on the basis of invasion of privacy, BUT if they break any law because and or with any information they found in your e-mails you could absolutely sue. Taking business from you is a direct malicious act as a result of access your e-mail. Find laws they have broken and stand on those. I wish you luck with this, and not all employees suck
Reply:Look in yahoo's privacy policy and such. I don't know if you can sue them but here is the report site for this sort of thing.
Reply:The answer is yes. Take that fool to court and make him learn not to do that again. Now that should teach him a lesson! And whatever you do, sign out of your Yahoo mail account immediately, and I emphasize _immediately_ after you finish reading your email.
Reply:yes it is
Reply:How'd they get your password?
